Nature
It's never abandoned me.
I met this guy in Hawai’i, on Kaua’i. It was outside my room every evening I was there. I couldn’t get over how bit he was. This photo doesn’t do him justice. Let’s say he would have had a hard time fitting in both of my hands side by side. He was a marvel.
Nature
Of all the things I have depended on throughout my life, it’s nature.
I hope it has known it can depend on me.
I have not always been the best steward.
I have taken advantage.
I have taken nature for granted.
I can remember as a child how much I loved the smell of grass, the air when it rains, climbing trees, and swimming in the ocean.
I make an effort every day to be better to nature. I know I can make a better effort.
It has given me so much that I will never be able to repay.
Nature has never abandoned me. It has always been my friend and my companion.
It has scared me, delighted me, and educated me.
I have an insatiable curiosity about nature and it continues to satisfy and peak that curiosity.
I know we can do more for nature. Let’s try.

Preface from my book. DRINK NATURE.

Great piece, and thanks for making me more attuned to nature lately, KaZ. Did the final leg of the Road Feast trip up to ME from RI today, and I would have missed the trees blooming in reverse if I hadn't taken that extra drive north; the lighter greens and the bare trees were just an hour's drive away from home. Glad I din't miss all of what spring has to offer! :)
We need more people who can give back to Nature. Not that it can compensate or restore a fraction of what we take away. The photo you've taken here is also beautiful. It is a lovely frog.
